1:30-2:20PM CST - Jerry Grady, CPA and Managing Partner at UHY LLC - Federal and State Tax Law and Regulatory Updates

Staffing Firms are positioned excellently for growth and opportunities, however there are a few key tax law items and state regulatory issues you might not be thinking which could have adverse effects, without your knowledge:  Key takeaways for you will include:

  • Employee Retention Credit got you money--you may have phantom income tax due come 4/15/2022
  • PPP never seems to go away, but at least the IRS has finally provided the details on what this means for your tax basis
  • With the Work From Home Model appearing to be the “new norm” staffing firms could find themselves in some legal tax turbulence.

2:30 -3:30PM CST - Keynote: Toby Malara, Government Affairs Counsel at American Staffing Association Legal Issues and the 2022 Midterm Elections: What They Mean for the Staffing Industry

The results of the 2020 elections handed the Democratic party in Washington DC the trifecta: control of the House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate and the White House. However, with Covid-19 and an unsteady economy causing havoc, the legislative nirvana that was predicted has yet to arrive. As we head towards the 2022 midterm elections, Democrats hold on the House and Senate look tenuous, at best.

What have been the accomplishments, and failures of the Biden administration and the 116th Congress to date? What is the state of Covid-19 administrative and legislative efforts? Is more relief legislation on the way? As the 2022 midterm elections approach, can Democrats hold onto their majorities? If they do, what will the legislative agenda of the 116th Congress look like? And if they don’t, what does that mean for the Administration and the business community heading into the 2024 elections?

3:30-5:00PM - Networking opportunity for in-person attendees - sponsored by Assurance
